Before everything else, stop the boiler and circulators . Then partially drain the system (It is impossible to inflate an expansion vessel if the system is pressurized ) . You can either drain through a drain valve if there is one , or by emptying by the manifold present on the heated floor , or by a trap or radiator (which will surely be a little long). Avoid draining the heating safety valve which may then find it difficult to close. It is unnecessary to completely empty the system ( when it no longer runs or more practically , you can begin to swell) .
The recommended pressure for an installation having the gauge height less than 16ft 427⁄32in
is about 11.60 psi (A villa with two levels , for example) . Warning an expansion vessel over-inflated it is as if it was not inflated , the effect will be the same , it will not work .
When you start to inflate it will sink, careful where you open to drain (especially if you open the radiator drain with white carpet below !) .
As soon as it no longer sink, and the pressure on the gauge ( the filling device shows 11.60 psi) flowing, it's over. Check that the valve is not leaking by putting a little saliva on it and refit the valve cap.
Close where you drained and add water in the system via the fill valves , check that the boiler is vented properly or drain it manually.
Be very careful to purge it well, if there is too much air in the boiler , it may be in safety overheating position or the pump may be toast.
Reset both boiler and pump etc. .
Here it is finally finished until next time , it goes without saying that if you must repeat the process within 6 months , is that the expansion vessel is defective and must be changed , it is the same if during inflating, air exits through the drain while you inflate for 10 minutes!
I recommend the vessels Pneumatex brand that are good quality and have the benefit of getting a 5 year warranty .
These vessel can’t be integrated into the boiler to replace the existing , they are set next to the boiler by connecting them to the place of origin of the expansion vessel . They will not necessarily be more expensive to purchase and are much more reliable. Do not forget to choose a size vessel relative to your installation.
